On item (1), a very large expenditure has been incurred on a number of public buildings, as shown by the following figures:

It will thus be seen that two-thirds of the Vote of $35,000 has been expended upon a comparatively small number of buildings, leaving only about $11,000 for all the others, a sum which is inadequate.
Item (2) is of a small amount and calls for no comment.
Item (3) is principally due to the fact that, in former years, dredging has been carried out for private individuals or firms, and the amount received in respect of such dredging has been recorded.
